Hermann Wurst Haus Wins Best of Show the 44th Annual Hermann Wurstfest Competition

The Hermann Wurst Haus won Best of Show with Braunschweiger at the annual 44th Hermann Wurstfest Competition on Saturday, March 22, 2025. Hermann Wurst Haus also won thirteen prestigious awards for their artisan, hand-crafted smoked sausages and smoked meats. The Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored the 44th annual Wurstfest competition, a statewide contest among gourmet professional and amateur sausage makers.

Hermann Wurst Haus received fourteen awards including Best of Show for Braunschweiger; Grand Champion awards for Braunschweiger, Natural Old Fashioned Summer Sausage (Aged Olde Fashion Sommer Sausage), Andouille, Best of Show Bratwurst uncooked (Fresh Bratwurst); Reserve Grand Champion awards for Head Cheese (Olde World Style), Hickory Smoked Mango Chipotle Bratwurst (Specialty Wurst, Cooked), Caramelized Pear & Gorgonzola Bratwurst (Smoked Bratwurst), Knackwurst (Specialty Sausage); and Champion awards for BBQ Flavored Jerky (Smoked Jerky Whole Muscle), Original Hickory Smoked Summer Sausage (Summer Sausage, Cooked), Venison German Bologna (Exotic Sausage), Italian Bratwurst (Italian Sausage), and Rhine Valley Smoked Pork Sausage (Smoked Pork Sausage).

This prestigious event attracts amateur and professional sausage makers from throughout Missouri. Judges evaluated 150 entries in professional and amateur categories. This year’s winners were determined by a panel of meat industry judges from all over the state. Josh Owens, the star of Discovery Channel’s “Moonshiners”, was the celebrity judge this year.

More than 2000 visitors attended this year’s event held at Stone Hill Winery and the Hermannhof Festhalle in Hermann. Visitors sampled the various gourmet sausages from sausage vendors. German music and a performance by the Wurstjaeger dancers were enjoyed by all.
