Hermann Wurst Haus Wins Grand Champion Summer Sausage at the 2018 Missouri State Fair

Hermann Wurst Haus owners, Mike and Lynette Sloan of Hermann Missouri, were awarded several awards for their hand-crafted smoked meats and sausages at the 2018 Missouri State Fair in Sedalia, Missouri. 

The Missouri State Fair draws more than 800 entries in the Ham, Bacon, Sausage, and Jerky categories. Judges who score the products do so over the course of 2 1/2 days. Entries receive favorable scores based on external appearance, internal appearance and flavor. Flavor of the products receives the most points as it provides 60% of the scores. Judges for this prestigious event include Dr. Greg Renfow, from the University of Kentucky, Edward Woods from Woods Smoked Meats in Bowling Green, Missouri and Louis Fantasma from Paradise Locker in Trimble, Missouri. Woods is a three-time Hall of Fame winner and Fantasma was recently named the winner of the American Association of Meat Processors Accomplishment Award for 2018.

Hermann Wurst Haus assistant Wurstmeisters, Patrick Mallory and Kenny Ball the Third, brought home Grand Champion for their original Summer Sausage, Champion for their Hickory Smoked Sugar Cured Bacon, Champion for their Original Snack Sticks, and Reserve Grand Champion for their Sweet and Sassy Hickory Smoked Beef Jerky.

These products are available for sale in the Hermann Wurst Haus store in downtown Hermann, in the online store, and at select retail markets in Missouri.
