The Hermann Wurst Haus won nine prestigious awards for our artisan, handcrafted smoked and fresh sausages, jerky and snack sticks on Saturday, March 23rd at Hermann’s annual Wurstfest competition.
The Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored the 40th Annual Wurstfest competition, a statewide contest among gourmet sausage makers.
Hermann Wurst Haus received nine awards including four Grand Champion awards for Smoked Bratwurst (Best of Show Bratwurst), Fresh Bratwurst (Original Bratwurst), Italian Sausage and Fresh Pork Sausage; Reserve Grand Champion award for Braunschweiger; Champion awards for Smoked Pork Sausage (Rhine Valley Pork Sausage), Exotic Sausage Cooked (Peppered Bison Summer Sausage), Snack Sticks (BBQ Flavor) and Cooked Summer Sausage.
This prestigious event attracts amateur and professional sausage makers from throughout Missouri. Judges evaluated 154 entries in 24 professional and amateur categories.
This year’s winners were determined by a panel of meat industry judges.
More than 1,500 visitors attended this year’s event held at Stone Hill Winery and the Wurst Market in downtown Hermann. Visitors sampled the various gourmet sausages from 7 sausage vendors. German music and the Wurstjaeger dancers were enjoyed by all.
